It is true that to some degree, our names have an effect on our personalities and our identities. We can say the same for companies, businesses or brands. Which is why most businesses spend so much time and money on developing quirky, clever and unique marketing strategies. They design logos, labels and a veritable assortment of techniques to help create a brand identity that stands out from the rest.
However, simply standing out is not the main goal here. A really bad product might stand out for all the wrong reasons. The idea is to create an image or identity that suits the nature of brand/business as well as its products.
In the world of cosmetics, the general approach to this is to make products (and the brands that make them) look as chic, stylish and vogue as possible. Each box, label and container looks like something that you would almost regret throwing away.
Creating a strong brand identity also helps your products resonate with the company’s desired target market.
However, many of the people who are shopping for cosmetics and skincare products are not necessarily looking for the traditional ‘up-market’ style that brands in this sector tend to appeal to. Just as there are many ways of defining beauty, there are also many ways to stylize a brand.
Every brand on the market tries to make themselves as appealing as possible. Yet few really take the risk to redefine what beauty products can look like or be made from.
Too Cool For School is a brand that recently caught my attention. They seem to have defined themselves as a young, daring and avant-garde company that are aimed at breaking the rules and shaking things up in the world of beauty and skincare. Their products look as great and artsy as their formulas sound. And you can notice their appeal on first glance of their packaging and store design.
They’re a young and creative brand that are quickly gathering a following in both the US and South Korea (as well as online). They are set to become the beauty darlings of a young-at-heart generation.
In the ever-expanding beauty and skincare market, finding a brand as attractive and ‘cool’ as Too Cool For School is a rare treat. One definitely worth investigating.

Too Cool For School Company Background And History Explained

I personally love finding out about younger brands.
This Seoul-based brand burst onto the scene as early as 2009 – so they’re just over a decade old. I personally love finding out about younger brands. They almost always seem to have that ‘special something’ about them that makes them feel fresh – different.
It is true that many people are brand-loyal and tend to stick to older, more established brands. Yet the younger generations are more easily adaptable.
And this is exactly who I should think a brand like Too Cool For School is appealing to. Too Cool For School was born out from the minds of young creatives. The design feels ‘out-of-the-box’ and fresh – a word I can’t repeat enough when it comes to this brand.
Their packaging is bold and edgy in a playful and dreamy kind of way. In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever seen this type of design on an international makeup brand ever before. The brand is dedicated to promoting artistic expression in the contemporary beauty world. This has made them one of, if not the most sought-after brand in South Korea.
But the appeal of this brand doesn’t stop with only the superficial design elements of the products themselves. The formulas and ingredients contained within these delightful packages are what really set the brand apart. They often contain natural ingredients such as egg, rice water and pumpkin seed extracts, among others.
The products are generally based on old Korean beauty treatments or techniques that have been passed down for generations yet reinvented to stay contemporary. Hence the retro-modern, kitsch packaging. They are one of the few brands that is really open to experimentation. They often tend to create products that have never been tried before – and would probably be impossible to replicate.
I think the true history of this brands lies in their future – as iconoclastic as that may sound. They are set to revolutionize the way younger generations, and perhaps even mature clientele, see beauty and skincare as a field and what they should come to expect from a brand in these sectors.

Too Cool For School Cosmetics Product Overview
Not accustomed to this brand’s stylish look and appeal? Then I highly recommend checking out their website for a better idea of how the products look. The brand’s product line includes 12 subcategories. Each provides different products for different looks, styles, and even personality types.
I love that this brand celebrates diversity and embraces a sense of individuality in their product line. The standard industry convention is to create products that have a neat, contemporary and uniform look.
A brand may reinvent their image every couple of years. But the idea to keep a line neat and uniform has been the tried and trusted technique for decades now.
With Too Cool For School, each line and every individual product has its own unique look and feel. When browsing their products online or in-store, it feels more like you’re in a gallery space than a makeup outlet.
As most of us are aware of, it’s the little things in life that often make a big difference. You can find the small touches that define Too Cool For School in everything from package design to ingredients.
So, in order to make your search a little easier, we’ve decided to highlight a few of their most popular and effective products. These items should be on the top of your list for when you decide to buy new makeup.
Too Cool For School Milk Tint Review

But the fade is natural and won’t leave you with patchy or exposed lips.
The Milk Tint range consists of 4 different colors including a Milky Pink, Milky Orange, Milky Lavender and a Milky Red. The colors may seem a little drastic when viewed on the bottle. Yet they blend onto your lips really smoothly and boost your color in a way that seems natural.
The Milky Red has the longest-lasting effects. It can hold for about 6 hours after application. The other colors tend to fade after 4 hours. But the fade is natural and won’t leave you with patchy or exposed lips.
Each product in the range has a light and pleasant smell and taste that suits its color. But it won’t have a large effect on the flavor of the food you may consume after applying it.
The packaging for this line is really cute. Each bottle comes in a little milk carton, reminiscent of the old milk boxes from the 80s. The packaging is also practical, as it makes for easy storage and simple application. So you can carry a bottle around with you all day – in case you need a touch up.

Too Cool For School Egg Cream Firming Mask Review
Why on Earth would you want to put eggs on your face, you might be thinking? I know I certainly did before I did some research into the nature of egg use in skin care. I was blown away by how effective they can actually be for a natural product.
Eggs (more specifically egg whites) are great for reducing pore size. They remove dead skin cells and oxidized sebum oil from the surface of your skin.
In recent times, DIY egg-based treatments have become popular. Yet they’re often messy and can even have a rather funky smell. And I don’t mean that in a good way!
So, to make your life a whole lot easier, I’d recommend trying Egg Cream from Too Cool For School. The mask is designed around a light netting. This helps with the application process and makes it easier to achieve a wider, natural coverage.
The egg whites help to nourish your skin and keep it hydrated. The high collagen content in the mask helps to promote skin elasticity yet will leave your skin feeling firm. It’s good to use a facial toner before applying the mask. Be sure to leave it on for no longer than 20 minutes.
The results will definitely make you a believer. As they say, the proof is in the pudding- and in this case, it’s an egg custard. Get it here.
Too Cool For School Perfect Day Makeup Fixer Review

Heat, rain and humidity can all have a negative effect on your makeup’s ability to hold onto the skin.
For regular users of makeup, the problem of having your makeup run over the course of the day is common. Heat, rain and humidity can all have a negative effect on your makeup’s ability to hold onto the skin, as well as let it sink into the lines of your skin.
So, to help prevent this from happening, Too Cool For School has released the Perfect Day Makeup Fixer. It’s great for any skin type. And it can withstand a variety of the natural elements that affect your makeup. Once you’ve applied your makeup, simply spray a light mist of the makeup fixer onto your face and rub in gently.
As a setting spray, it helps to lock in your skin’s moisture. It also keeps your makeup in place by adding a light, protective layer to the surface of your skin. This means your makeup won’t run as easily and won’t sink into the folds or lines of your skin.
The formula contains rose water and lemon balm. This gives it its natural astringent properties whilst doubling up as a natural anti-bacteria treatment. This means that your skin will be protected from harmful germs, toxins and bacteria that may gather throughout the day.
These can often cause infection or inflammation on your skin. So keeping them at bay is essential for maintaining a healthy complexion.
The Perfect Day Makeup Fixer has a slight odor of rose, but this fades quickly once applied. All in all, it’s an effective product. It’s a must-have for anyone who applies and wants to avoid having their makeup run.
Too Cool For School Egg Mousse Soap Review

Finding the right soap for your skin is quite a challenge.
Finding the right soap for your skin is quite a challenge – at least for those of us who pay attention to the products we buy and use. The truth about most soaps is that they have tons of parabens, sulfates and phthalates, which can be harmful to our skin and bodies when used continuously over time.
As we now know, the skin is not a solid, opaque layer – but is rather porous. This means that whatever we put on our skin, winds up in our bodies.
Thankfully, Too Cool For School has taken this into account and ensured that their products are free from any of the previously mentioned chemicals and produced a product that is largely based on natural ingredients. In short, it’s healthy and is very effective.
The Egg Mousse Soap is rich in amino acids, egg white extracts and proteins which help to nourish and hydrate your skin when applied. The soap forms a nice, thick lather and works by penetrating your skin and dissolving oil before it can build up whilst simultaneously removing dead skin cells from the surface of your skin.
The only precaution I would give before using this soap is that it has a slightly high pH level (7) which may dry out sensitive skin types. So be sure to patch test it for 2-3 days before using it regularly and monitor your skin whilst using it. But so far, I haven’t experienced any notable issues worth reporting, so it’s well worth a try if you’re looking for a paraben-free alternative to the soap you have at home.
Too Cool For School BB Foundation Lunch Box Review
This is definitely one of the coolest makeup products I’ve come across in recent times. It’s quirky, ergonomic, effective and comes in a stylish yet practical container. They say that diamonds are a girl’s best friend and the BB Foundation Lunch Box should be the very next thing on the list.
It has been carefully formulated to offer your skin the most protection possible, without compromising on the beauty factor. It has an SPF factor of 37 and can help to prevent sun damage and burns as well as the effects of harmful UV rays.
The foundation also contains small amounts of water, which helps to hydrate and nourish your skin once applied.
The BB Foundation even includes small amounts of diamond powder – an amazing way to reflect the sun’s rays from the surface of your skin. Of course, we’re talking about industrial grade diamond powder, not the Cartier line, but in terms of protecting your skin, they’re just as effective.
The BB Foundation Lunchbox always comes with a highlighter and toner – built into the packaging. So, you effectively get 3 products for the price of 1, which is something that makes me really excited. It comes in two different varieties – namely for matte skin types and moist skin types.
The matte version is lighter in tone and offers slightly more in terms of a moisturizer. The moist version is for darker skin tones and works well as a natural skin protector.
The foundation offers great coverage and works well as a concealer, whilst allowing your skin to breathe. The skin toner and highlighter help to add those final touches in terms of contouring and boosting your skin’s radiance. It’s easy to carry around and tends to have a lasting effect (especially when used in combination with the Perfect Day Makeup Fixer).
The only warning I would offer with this product is that the spatula-spade used to apply the foundation can be a bit messy, so it’s best to take caution when applying it, lest you stain your clothing etc.
Too Cool For School Coconut Oil Eye Serum Review

Coconuts.
The areas around our eyes are easily one of the most sensitive parts of skin on our bodies and treating them effectively is important for avoiding the formation of wrinkles, fine lines and dark rings.
The reason why this part of our skin is so sensitive to the formation of the above is because it is our thinnest layer of skin. This means that moisture easily evaporates and that tissue and cell regrowth is slower than on other parts of our body.
The TCFS Coconut Oil Eye Serum is an intense hydrator that helps to revitalize and restore your skin’s moisture and stimulate cell and tissue regrowth. The addition of fruit acid extracts also helps to revitalize the skin and keep it clear.
The rich antioxidant content of the coconut oil also helps to penetrate your skin and flush out harmful toxins that may deteriorate your cells over time and will also keep them off the surface of your skin.
To apply the Coconut Oil Eye Serum you should follow your normal facial cleansing routine and finish with a facial toner before use. Then, simply remove the patch from the container and place around the layer of skin just below your eye. Leave it on for 30 – 40 minutes for the best effects preferably use the serum at night, just before sleeping.

Too Cool For School Dinoplatz Escalator Mascara Review
The TCFS Dinoplatz Escalator Mascara is generally referred to as a ‘no-nonsense’ mascara that’s easy to apply and is very effective. It helps to lengthen, thicken and define your lashes, giving them a stylish and luscious look whilst not flaking or smudging easily.
It is a tubing mascara, which means that you can remove it with warm water, so it’s hassle free. One of the coolest aspects of this product, at least to me, is that it comes with a built-in, adjustable brush.
By turning the dial on the cap, you can lengthen or shorten the brush, effectively giving you a more options in terms of lash curl and length. But by shortening the brush, you can effectively increase the volume of your lashes, making them look bolder.
It’s quite cost-effective when compared with many of mascara’s available on the market and is simple to use – and to great effect. I would definitely recommend it for those glamorous nights out or the beauty queens amongst us.
Is Too Cool For School Cruelty Free
Too Cool For School prides themselves on not doing any pre-market animal testing “and absolutely no animal testing at any stages of post-market between Korea and the US”. So, the good news is that the company cares about animal rights and makes efforts to protect them.
Yet for many, this is not enough. You see, China requires animal testing on cosmetics. So companies which sell their products in China are not really “cruelty free”, as they make a profit off of products sold after animal testing. As Too Cool For School does sell in China, we therefore can’t give them the full badge of honor.
Conclusion
In conclusion, anyone who’s interested in cool, quirky or unique things in general will most likely be drawn to this brand – if you haven’t already heard about it.
Too Cool For School is fun, edgy and arty, at least in terms of the rather ‘stiff-upper-lip’ nature of the cosmetics world and it almost seems like they are inviting you to play and experiment with your makeup, rather than just put it on.
If you’re not experimenting, they certainly are. They like to release limited edition products that are either available only for a short period of time or can only be bought in a physical store. This keeps their brand exciting and fresh (yes, I said it again!).
That being said, the products are reasonable. They come in packaging so unique you’ll want to start a collection and are very effective and will live up to your high expectations. So why not try them out – all the cool kids already are. 😉 😀 😉
