Joico Color Eraser Review: How To Remove Color From Hair

Post Image

Since I was a kid, I have always loved the thought of having bright purple hair.  At the time, I wanted to look like a mermaid or a princess. Now, I think pastel-colored hair is undoubtedly bold, bright, and beautiful.  I have been hesitant to act on this desire because I was afraid that the color would not look good on me. The anxiety of going to a salon having no clue how such a dramatic change would look on me has kept me from dying my hair for all of these years. To those of you who have left a hair appointment disappointed by your new hair color, this article goes out to you.

Today we will be discussing how to remove this unwanted color from your hair.  More specifically, we will be looking at how the Joico Color Eraser can help you to complete this process at home.  It can be extremely frustrating if you have spent all the money to dye your hair and be completely and utterly disappointed with the results.  For this reason, it is important to have a cheap and quick way to get rid of your color.

Before jumping straight into the product, let’s talk about how one can remove color without so many chemicals.  It is important to note that these methods can dry out one’s hair so when completing them be sure to use a deep conditioning hair mask after.

1. Baking Soda

Using equal parts baking soda and shampoo, create a paste mixture that can be rubbed into your hair.  Lather the mix onto colored parts of your hair and wait a few minutes for the mix to work. Wash the mix out of your hair with warm water.  Continue doing this method until the color in your hair eventually fades away.

2. Vitamin C

Besides being great for colds, vitamin C can actually help one to remove the color from hair.  To use this method, mix vitamin C tablets and hot water to create a paste. Apply the paste to your hair and throw on a shower cap.  Keep the shower cap on for about an hour and wash out your hair with warm water. Again, you may have to do this method more than once, to get rid of a significant amount of color.

3. Vinegar

Saturate your hair with equal parts white vinegar and water.  Cover your head with a shower cap for 15-20 minutes. Wash your hair with warm water to get out all of the vinegar mix.  Repeat these steps the next time you wash your hair to have stronger results.

Joico Color Eraser Explained

Let me start by saying that the Joico Color Intensity Eraser is a pretty exclusive product to obtain. One can only purchase it if they have their hairstyling license. If you really want to get this product I would recommend asking your hairstylist to get it for you.

The product works to get rid of color in one’s hair within periods of short periods of time.  Some even notice a change in color in as little as 30 seconds. It specializes in getting rid of pastels, brights, and any other hair color trends that arise over time.  Hairstylists praise this product for being cheap, fast, and efficient. The product has a Keratin-enriched formula which helps hair to maintain somewhat healthy so it can be dyed again soon after use.

To use, one must mix the 1.5 oz package with 3 oz of LumiShine Developer or 20 Volume Veroxide.  After a thick paste is made, it is applied to the colored parts of one’s hair with a color brush. This product does work like bleach, so try your best to keep it from any strands of natural, uncolored hair. Leave the paste in your hair for up to 30 minutes and then rinse out. At this point, one’s head should no longer have their previous treated hair color, and it should be ready for a new color.

The Joico Color Eraser really does effectively remove the color from one’s hair. From what I have seen, it is good at removing reds and purples from hair. The only color this product has issues with is blue. It may leave your hair with a greenish tint once the blue is removed. Besides this, the product works well. The only downfall of the Joico Color Intensity Eraser is the damage it can do to your hair. As you can imagine, adding any chemicals to your hair is going to decrease your hair’s health. This product, in particular, makes hair dry and crunchy so it is important to wash it well and use a deep conditioning mask to prevent long-term damage.

Conclusion

After doing my research on the Joico Color Eraser, I can confidently say I would use this product. As I mentioned at the beginning of the article, it has always been a goal of mine to dye my hair purple. I have virgin hair so it is difficult to imagine such a big change to my hair color. My biggest fear would be not looking good with different hair color. Knowing there is a product like Joico Color Intensity out there that can take away the purple if it looked off, I am much more confident in actually dying my hair. I can always dye it back to my natural color.

Although the product could damage my hair, I think it is worth a shot to at least try my fun purple hair. I am a strong believer in trying new things. The best time to try new things is now! I know this is much easier said than done, but it is the truth. Whether it be a new hair color or style, trying a new look may be the best decision you’ve ever made.
