Post Image

It’s not uncommon for us to worry endlessly about the quality of our skin. After all, it is our biggest organ and it’s a sensitive thing. Adding up the total amount of money that we’re likely to spend on cleansing products and personal products is a hefty penny. You’re bound to be sitting with a pretty sizable sum of money. Knowing how to help stop your acne is the eternal issue.

However, there is a simple answer to the problem at hand. One that doesn’t require nearly as much expense or the inclusion of harmful chemicals in our daily facial cleansing. The fact that maintaining a healthy complexion has more to do with the kind of lifestyle you live (i.e. the products you use, the food you eat and how well balanced your overall lifestyle is). In this article, I will highlight some tips and tricks to curing acne with easy fixes.

So to prevent the onset of early aging and keep your skin healthier for longer, here is my favorite DIY facial treatment. All in the hopes that you’ll feel the difference of DIY natural goodness yourself. Then, you can draw your own conclusions.

What Causes Acne On The Body?

I’m quite sure that anyone who survived the onslaught of puberty can relate to having acne or pimples. At some point we all have.  You find yourself asking: What is the cause of my acne? Acne is generally the result of a combination of elements in our bodies. Factors such as our natural skin type, stress levels, hormones (androgens) and even climate affect us every day.

Excess testosterone, high levels of cortisol, excess sebum oil and naturally larger pores all contribute towards the formation of acne. Also, inflammation occurs suddenly due to favorable circumstances for bacteria to spread.

Our skin is a living organism and many tend to forget that we need to treat it likewise. When our pores become clogged and skin becomes oily, it only makes sense to try and unclog them and keep our skin balanced by removing excess oil.

The problem is that we tend to forget that our skin is porous, much like a sponge. Anything that goes on it, will eventually wind up in our bloodstream. When we lather, scrub and apply harmful chemical ingredients to our skin, they wind up in our systems. Then, often worsening the very problem we’re trying to treat.

In truth, treating any ailment whether it’s of the body or mind (or a combination of both), can be done much better from a preventative point of view. A symptomatic approach will allow you to fall victim to the common trappings of mass-produced products. This is where a holistic approach to skin treatment comes in handy.

2. Olay

Olay is generally considered a more costly brand. Frankly, it isn’t necessarily that popular among the younger generations from what I’ve managed to gather, but that doesn’t mean their products aren’t still worth investing in.

As far as a product range goes, Olay has one of the best money-for-value lines on the market today. Their facial cleansing products include the Fresh Effects Acne Treatment pack (facial scrub, toner/mattifier and spot serum treatment), the Deeply Clean Mineral Face Cleanser and the Pro-X cleansing system which includes a microdermabrasion exfoliating brush to help remove excess skin cells and stimulate the release of collagen.

While some may think that investing in a microdermabrasion brush is bit too much for general skin care, it’s a highly effective treatment that should be seen as a once-off investment. It’ll help to keep your skin clean and allow your skin to heal itself more naturally over time. It allows the correct circumstances for healing to occur. An expensive brand, but one worth investing in nonetheless.

3. Dove

Dove products have always been a go-to for many consumers out there. It’s not hard to see why they’ve become so well positioned as a brand. The truth is that the strength of this brand lies in its ability to a variety of skin types with one line.

Whether your skin is soft, pale and dry or naturally oily/combination in its makeup, the truth is that Dove has a product that can cater to your – and at a fair price.

The products are simple both in their ingredients and with regard to their ease of use. In terms of facial cleansing products, the dove range is simple and straightforward. Three different cleansing scrubs for sensitive, oily or dry skin types and a facial cleansing soap bar that is both mild and effective on a variety of skin types.

If you’re struggling to find a product that works for you without breaking the bank, I’d recommend the Dove line. After the first wash, your skin will love Dove too!

DIY Acne Wash Recipe and Guide

The products and brands I mentioned earlier have great money value for they can provide for your skin. However, it’s always better to stick to a facial cleansing regime that’s as close to natural as possible.

They may not be the most harmful products out there, there’s a good likelihood that they still contain some variety of harmful chemicals in them and will still have some kind of negative effect on your health over time.

So here’s a really cheap, simple and cost-effective DIY acne wash, recipe, and guide that you can follow in the comfort of your own home. The ingredients are natural, the process is simple and the results are on par with some of the costliest conventional products out there.

What you need

1x tablespoon of white sugar

1x tablespoon coconut oil

8x drops of Lavender essential oil

4-5x drops of Tea Tree essential oil

Simply blend the sugar and coconut oil together in a bowl. Then, mix well to ensure that the ingredients blend into a liquid paste with a slightly rough texture. Now add the essential oils and apply the mixture to your face after having rinsed it with warm water.

Use the mixture like you would any facial cleanser and be sure to rinse with cold water and follow up with a toner (almond, tea tree or eucalyptus essential oil work well as natural toners). Be sure to use a moisturizer if you have a drier skin type. I’ve been using this mixture for the past 3 months and have had fantastic results so far. Definitely worth trying out!

Skin care is an important part of our daily lives and it’s not something that should ever be overlooked in importance. However, that doesn’t mean that we should just assume that everything on the shelves of our health and beauty aisle is 100% good for our skin and health.

If you find that conventional products are too harsh for your skin, try using our more natural DIY recipe in your cleansing routine. A great means of keeping skin clean without the hassle of harmful chemicals and high price tags.
