Revlon Photoready Primer Review

Post Image

Ah, Revlon. I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with this brand. Unfortunately, some of their products just don’t work for me. Which is a shame, because their packaging is super-awesome. Sometimes I have to remind myself, “No, that product didn’t work for you; you hated it”, because the packaging just makes me want to buy the product in every shade.

But it’s not all bad – there are some Revlon products that are real winners. And of course, their prices are competitive.

The Revlon product that I use the most is my Revlon Photoready Primer. For some unknown reason, a lot of people skip the priming stage of their routine. I have no idea why. I honestly don’t think my makeup would last 2 hours without a primer, let alone a whole day. Not to mention, it makes everything go on much more smoothly and easily.

But it can be hard to shell out $50 (or more) for a primer, of all things. I’m quite pro high-end makeup, but for a primer I won’t go there. It just seems like too much money for something that you won’t even end up seeing.

I don’t own any high-end primers, so I can’t tell you how Revlon’s Photoready Primer compares. I will tell you, though, that I absolutely love mine – and it’s one of the most-used makeup items in my collection. It’s no wonder this product was rated 4 stars out of 5 on Amazon!

Revlon Photoready Primer Collection Overview

The Revlon Photoready Primer collection consists of three different primers – the Brightening Primer, the Perfecting Primer, and the Pore Reducing Primer. Your end-goal will help you determine which one is best-suited for you. You’ll recognize them from their different colors (though these colors won’t be visible on your skin): the Perfecting primer is a light, baby pink, the Brightening primer is white, and the Perfecting primer is a light peach color.

The Brightening Primer is the one I use, and honestly, I love it. It really does what it says – it brightens my skin, evens out my skin tone and reduces redness. I like to wear it around my eye area, because that needs the most brightening. Plus, it really helps my eyeshadow last for hours.

When something works this well, it makes me wonder why people spend a fortune on high-end primers. Revlon’s Photoready primer works perfectly, and you can’t beat the price. It has a matte finish, which is good news if you have oily or combination skin. I have dry skin, though, and I’m really happy with it, so it’s probably safe to assume that it works well for almost every skin type. A little goes a long way, so it will definitely last you a while, even if you use it every day.

The one downside is the packaging. While there is plenty of product, it can be difficult to get the last third of the bottle out. Hopefully, Revlon will fix this issue soon, and it will really be deserving of five stars!

Revlon Photoready Perfecting Primer Review

Like its name suggests, this primer really perfects your skin. It works to cover up light blemishes and redness, and also helps makeup last longer. Like the Brightening primer, it has a matte finish, and helps counteract that oily shine.

If acne scars are an issue for you, this primer is the perfect choice. It provides a blurring effect, which softens the look of scars and reduces redness or hyper-pigmentation.

Revlon Photoready Pore Reducing Primer Review

Large pores are a problem that so many people face, and it can be tough. Besides not looking the nicest, they also tend to get clogged up with oils, which makes oily skin even more difficult to deal with. If large pores are a problem for you, you might want to check out Revlon’s Pore Reducing primer, for an affordable product that can help reduce those large pores.

This primer is best applied in places where your pores are the most visible, such as on your nose or forehead. It definitely does what it says – it helps to minimize the appearance of your pores, and leaves a soft, matte finish. However, you might find this a bit too drying if your skin is not oily. It’s best for people with oily, or at least combination, skin.

Conclusion

Even if you’re not a fan of Revlon makeup in general, I would definitely suggest that you give their primers a try. They’re terrific, and you really don’t need to spend all that money on a high-end primer! Whether you’re looking for a primer to brighten your skin, reduce the look of your pores, or just perfect your skin in general, there’s a Revlon Photoready primer option for you!

If you’re not yet the type who uses a primer, then Revlon is the perfect way to introduce this essential step into your makeover routine. It’s not expensive, so if you haven’t used primer until now, you won’t feel like you’re spending a fortune on something you’ve never seen as a need before. Priming your face helps your makeup last longer, apply better and more easily, and even look more pigmented. It keeps the shine off your face, and can take your makeover to the next level.

And if Revlon is your go-to brand to begin with, then this product certainly won’t disappoint. It’s great value for money, and in these hot summer months, anything that helps my makeup last is a winner in my book!
