Pureology Hydrate Shampoo and Conditioner Review

When I was about 24 years old, I started turning grey. For about 10 years I’ve been getting my hair colored. (I know what you’re thinking; a lot of money down the toilet… but I have grey hair and I’m only in my 30s!)  During that time, I tried all different kinds of conditioner and shampoo for gray hair, both drugstore brands and higher end ones, and yet nothing compares to Pureology Hydrate Shampoo and Conditioner.

Great Pureology Shampoo & Conditioner For Grey Dry Hair

This formulation from Pureology is color-safe.

The shampoo & conditioner is a bit on the pricey side which is why I never thought to use them before, but after so many years of getting my hair colored and treated, my stylist suggested that it’s time for me to get on the Pureology shampoo train.

Pureology has a few different products that they sell, but the particular one that was suggested to me was Pureology Hydrate. It specifically worked for me because I’m always on the lookout for a great shampoo for dry scalp, and this has a formula is color safe, which means it will totally protect my hue.

To be honest, I’ve never spent this much on a conditioner and shampoo for color treated hair until I started using Pureology Hydrate, but thank g-d this combo really does work to leave your hair silky soft and to keep the color vivid and vibrant. The way I justify the cost is that I honestly can go much longer between color appointments at the salon.

I used to have to get my highlights and overall color done every eight weeks since it would really fade when I used other products, but now my stylist only has to do root touch-ups (to hide the grays) when I go in and I can go every two appointments for my color. At the end of the day it really saves money.

Pureology Best Use Explained

Apply to your wet hair and lather.  Massage gently into hair and scalp. Wait 1-2 minutes. After that it should rinse out pretty easily. Repeat if you feel it’s necessary.

The product is great, but I definitely expected a bit more lather. It doesn’t create a lot of suds, but it’s still doing its job.  It I also love the mint smell of the conditioner; it provides a nice tingle on your scalp when you use it which is always fun.

Pureology is probably the best concentrated formula for dry, color-treated hair on the market. What Pureology does is reveal soft, lustrous hair while protecting colour vibrancy with its luxurious, concentrated daily hydrating conditioner. It intensely hydrates without weighing your hair down. It also replenishes parched hair with movement and manageability, and rehydrates lightened and chemically relaxed hair.

The thing that I love most about this product is that this really does make your hair feel healthy and soft. I’m a person who uses a flat iron almost every day (really, really bad I know!) but since I’ve started using this, my hair doesn’t have the split ends and damage that it used to. It feels soft and looks shiny.

I found Pureology Hydrate Shampoo 8.5oz and Hydrate Conditioner 8.5 oz duo on Amazon priced at $36.65. I know that doesn’t sound so cheap, but compared to other places that is still definitely the cheapest place that I’ve ever seen it! Overall I would have to say that Pureology Hydrate is kind of expensive, but most certainly worth it!
