7 Secrets To Achieving Celebrity Eyebrows

Post Image

So, you’ve caught onto the hype, sifted through glossy magazines admiring the prominent brows of the celebrities you follow and now you want those brows too. Mentally kicking yourself for getting the better part of your eyebrows waxed off ten years ago when you were still a teenager, your mind now churns ideas, any possible way to undo the now seemingly permanent damage.

You frown at your complexion with a sinking regret and wonder why nobody warned you that there was no turning back when you made the grave decision to Wax It. But who would’ve thought at the time, when pencil thin brows were so in vogue, that one day fashion will make a 180° turn and introduce thick, natural looking, brows into the game…

If you are nodding your head right now, because you can totally relate to what I am saying, I have good news for you. You are not forever doomed to having thin brows. There are ways to achieve fuller brows with some simple do-it-yourself techniques, or, if you are prepared to go all the way, you can go for more long lasting, or permanent, brow filling procedures.

Natural Ways To Achieve Fuller Brows

We’ll start with the painless, DIY, tips for achieving fuller brows. Why go through all that pain if you can be happy with an easy, cheap, method too?

1. Draw Your Eyebrows

Drawing on eyebrows.

Here is the most obvious one: draw your eyebrows! There’s nothing wrong with faking it sometimes. Don’t worry, they look more natural than you think! I prefer to use a dark shadow over a pencil to highlight my brows for a more natural-looking effect. You can easily darken and thicken your brows with a sharp-edged brush and some black or brown shadow.

2. Natural Oils

Coconut Oil

This tip does not have the same instant results but can be effective in helping you grow thicker brows. Massage your eyebrows for 2-5 minutes with olive oil, castor oil or coconut oil. Leave it in overnight and rinse off the following morning. Eventually, you should start to see results.

3. Vitamins And Minerals

Eat foods rich in omega 3’s, protein, vitamin B, iron and zinc or take vitamin supplements. These are all vitamins and minerals that promote hair growth. If your brows and overall hair growth is thinning, you may be lacking in essential vitamins and minerals. Adopting a healthy diet with plenty of natural foods rich in vitamins and minerals could help to treat thinning hair.

4. Pluck And Wax – Not!

This one is very simple and especially recommended for those of us who have been religiously getting our brows done since we were teens. Stop plucking and waxing. Don’t touch your eyebrows at all and wait for them to grow. It could take several months, but if you are patient, you should notice them getting thicker.

If you were born with sparse eyebrows, still don’t pluck or wax them, but if you’re after thick brows, not touching your brows won’t be enough. I know, it does suck. I’m sorry. You can either draw your brows or go for brow filling procedures.

Permanent Brow Filling Options

Now for the instant, more permanent (but more painful and pricey) options available to thicken eyebrows:

5. Microblading

This is semi-permanent, lasting between 6 months to a year. Most would view a semi-permanent  procedure as being a drawback, but I think that the fact that it’s semi-permanent is a plus.

Because the procedure involves tattooing your eyebrows to give them a darker, thicker appearance, you’d be better off with a semi-permanent tattoo in case you’re not happy with the results. You can always change the shape or color the next time you go for microblading.

6. Eyebrow Transplantation

This procedure involves taking hair follicles from one part of your body and transplanting them onto your eyebrows. The results: natural-looking, thick brows. The hair will actually begin to grow in your brow area like it did in the area it was taken from. I never had this done but I imagine it is painful. The average cost for eyebrow transplantation is close to $4,000 – not exactly a cheap procedure.

7. Permanent Makeup

You can get a permanent eyebrow line tattooed onto your eyebrows in the color of your hair. This has the same effect of a pencil line drawn onto your eyebrows, only that it saves you having to do it every day. If you’re considering this option, make sure you know exactly which brow shape you’re after because you can’t undo it. Permanent makeup is less pricey than eyebrow transplantation, costing around $500 on average.

So that’s it. Now you can choose from whichever option suits you and enjoy the results of thicker, more prominent brows! Just don’t forget to try the natural methods first, they’re healthier and less pricey.
